Collegiate Pupils Celebrate GCSE Results

Following the wonderful achievements of their Year 13 counterparts last week, GCSE results day at Collegiate School was also a massively uplifting day for our Year 11s.

Head of Collegiate, Jeremy McCullough, said, “Lots of schools will say that they nurture the individual, and that there is more to life than examination results, but at Collegiate we really walk the walk, and don’t just talk the talk.

Our grounded, down-to-earth Year 11s have achieved so much away from the classroom [Repeat National Finalists in rugby, individual international sporting honours, actors and musicians of the very highest calibre, to name but a few of their individual and collective achievements!] and yet they have secured amazing academic results and we could not be more delighted.

The raw results are very good, of course, but there are also a lot of brilliant stories within these grades; stories of personal endeavour and character from young people who have faced significant challenges while studying for their GCSEs. They have been well-taught, well-supported and they have absolutely done their best.”

The following headline results are testament to their efforts:

  • 49% of grades at 7 to 9 (That is, the equivalent of “old A Grades” and above)
  • 14% of grades were 9s
  • 23% of students achieved all grades at 7 or above (“Straight As” in old money)
  • One candidate achieved a clean sweep of Grade 9s

Mr McCullough continued: “We look forward to welcoming the majority of students back in September as they begin their Sixth Form journey with us, and we are excited to be joined by a strong cohort of candidates from other schools who have achieved fabulously in their GCSEs too.”
