Collegiate Year 11s enjoy GCSE success
It was another exciting results day for the young people at Collegiate School as our Year 11s celebrated terrific results in their GCSE examinations.
Head of Collegiate, Jeremy McCullough, said, “We have always been very clear that we should not judge the success of a young person solely by the grades they achieve following a series of examinations. We believe that the nature of their personalities, the soft-skills and character traits that they develop, are really the best way to measure the value of their education.
“That said, and while noting that this cohort have developed into terrific young people, they have also achieved magnificent GCSE results; well done to all of them, and to their teachers and parents who have supported them so well."
The following headline results are testament to their efforts:
- 52% of grades at 7 to 9 (That is, the equivalent of “old A Grades” and above)
- 15% of grades were 9s
- 20% of students achieved all grades at 7 or above (“Straight As” in old money)
- One candidate achieved a clean sweep of Grade 9s
Mr McCullough continued: “As well as producing such excellent results, these brilliant young people have also excelled in sport, music, drama and in other areas too. This holistic education has not only helped them achieve great results, but it will have developed a great many other personal qualities, such as resilience and determination, that will stand them in good stead for the future.
“We look forward to welcoming the majority of students back in September as they begin their Sixth Form journey with us, and we are excited to be joined by a strong cohort of candidates
